Individual Therapy

In person or on Zoom

Because psychotherapy is a relational insight experience, having a clear, open field of connection is vital for change to become real. When we meet together, we will find ways to explore, relax, and trust one another. The atmosphere we build is in a very real way a living dynamic field that is influenced by the quality of attention we bring to each session. I will work to understand you and the experiences that led you to choose therapy, while reflecting back to you hints of mental patterns and emotional obstacles that are both seen and unseen.

Therapy is also about behavior change; we’ve all known people who have been in therapy for years and, from our perspective, haven’t improved much! In our work together we will craft specific ways to disrupt old behaviors that no longer serve you and learn from what bubbles up to the surface, revealing more of who you’ve been and, more importantly, who you’d like to be.

I treat teens (14-17 years old) and adults with the following conditions*:

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

  • Performance Anxiety

  • Phobias

  • Major Depressive Disorder, including treatment-resistant depression

  • PTSD

  • Borderline Personality Disorder

  • Dependent Personality Disorder

  • Sex Addiction

  • Anger Management

  • Grief & Complex Bereavement

  • International Adoptive Parenting

  • Life Transitions

  • Failure to Launch

  • Lack of Meaning or Purpose

*Please note:

While I use DSM-V diagnoses to communicate with your psychiatrist or other members of your medical and mental health team, I do so recognizing that diagnoses are “fuzzy” at best, and do not in any way represent the whole-person mystery that you are. Diagnoses are vague descriptive tools, and I use them that way.
